Finding Italian wine these days is becoming increasingly difficult. There has never been a huge amount of stock of Italian wine in England, and this is partly to do with the level of consumption in Italy. The natives consume an enormous amount of their own wines, which means that not that much gets sent abroad for sale, but it certainly seems as if we are taking stock of less than ever before.

The answer will not be found in any retail outlets in England, unless you happen to live near a specialist Italian stockist, which is unlikely. Supermarkets tend to have a poor selection and even the wine merchants don’t seem to carry too much ever since they became obsessed with new world wine. (more…)
